FRIENDS of Caroline HOSPICE is a non-profit, United Way organization, which has been serving Beaufort residents since established in 1980. FRIENDS was the first and only hospice in Beaufort. It was founded by Beaufortonians wishing to help a dying friend. FRIENDS is a non-profit licensed medical hospice and does not accept money from our patients, their families, insurance companies or Medicare and Medicaid. We rely solely on support from the community to operate was the first licensed hospice in Beaufort County. With a professional staff of 17 and the assistance of over 800 trained volunteers, FRIENDS continues to be strong today. FRIENDS of Caroline HOSPICE is completely local, proudly serving Beaufort County for over 30 years.

FRIENDS of Caroline HOSPICE brings the individuals needed to provide supportive care together as a coordinated and unified team. Members of this Coordinated Care Team and the services provided include:

Registered Nurses (RNs) to coordinate patient care under direction of a patients physician. Our RNs provide nursing care, monitor pain medications, and assist with medical equipment.

Personal Care Assistants to provide home health assistance with activities and needs of daily living.

Chaplain to provide spiritual comfort as requested.

Medical Social Worker to provide support and assistance with the myriad of other issues surrounding end of life including but not limited to advanced directives and financial assistance.

Volunteers of FRIENDS of Caroline HOSPICE to provide support and respite.

On call assistance at any hour (24 hours, 7 days) 843-525-6257

Pain and nausea medicine for patients who cannot afford these medications.

Medical equipment and supplies at no charge, to help families care for their loved ones.

No fee is charged to individuals or insurance companies, Medicare or Medicaid. We are funded by the United Way, memorial contributions, donations, the Festival of Trees, the Red Door Thrift Shop, and other locally sponsored fundraising events.
